Dek Ingraham is a Pittsburgh-based director, actor, administrator, educator, and life-long student of theatre. Dek studied theatre at Marietta College and, after a 15-year hiatus, completed his undergraduate degree at Chatham University in 2020, where he continues to serve on the advisory board for the Chatham Drama Club. He is now an MFA candidate at the University of Idaho, studying directing and pedagogy.
Why did you choose to utilize Chatham’s partnership with FreeWill?
While no one wants to think about their mortality, it's something that we all need to plan for. FreeWill's approach makes what could be a grim task about death into a celebration of the people and organizations that are important to us in life. As someone who had not yet created a will, this was an easy and simple opportunity to take care of one of those "someday" tasks that always kind of sits in the back of my to-do list.
How easy or difficult was it to create your “free will”?
It was incredibly easy to use the FreeWill resource. You are guided through the process step by step with bite-sized questions to help build the final document. The system does all of the math and translates the legal jargon for you. All you have to do is answer simple-to-understand questions. At the end of the process, a legal document is created that you can print out, sign, and have notarized. Frankly, driving to a notary is the hardest thing about the entire process.
Would you recommend this tool for other Chatham alumni?
I would absolutely recommend this resource to other Chatham alumni. It is a quick and painless way to take care of one of those not-so-fun, but absolutely essential to-dos that we all need to handle. It is truly free and easy to use!
